Godlove Heiskell

Godlove (Godolph) Heiskell was born 26 November 1756 in Winchester, Frederick County, Virginia, and died 8 October 1807 in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He married Margaret Hampton 5 August 1779 in Frederick County, Virginia. She was born 23 March 1759 in Frederick County, Virginia, and died 3 January 1826 in Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania County, Virginia. Godlove was a coachmaker and blacksmith in Fredericksburg, where he collected payments from the city for putting prisoners into irons. Godlove also seems to have been an "agent for procuring certain supplies" to the War Department. Godlove was a vestryman of St. George's Parish, Fredericksburg, Virginia in 1802. The 1798 tax records for Spotsylvania County, Virginia, show that Godlove had two rental properties. Godlove and Margaret had eleven children:
