Godlove (Godolph)
Heiskell was born 26 November 1756 in Winchester, Frederick
County, Virginia, and died 8 October 1807 in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
He married Margaret Hampton 5 August
1779 in Frederick County, Virginia. She was born 23 March 1759
in Frederick County, Virginia, and died 3 January 1826 in Fredericksburg,
Spotsylvania County, Virginia. Godlove was a coachmaker and blacksmith
in Fredericksburg, where he collected payments from the city for
putting prisoners into irons. Godlove also seems to have been
an "agent for procuring certain supplies" to the
War Department. Godlove was a
vestryman of
St. George's Parish, Fredericksburg, Virginia in 1802. The
1798 tax records for Spotsylvania County, Virginia, show that
Godlove had two rental properties. Godlove and Margaret had eleven
