John Frederick Hyskell

John Frederick Hyskell was the son of Benjamin Hyskell.

John Frederick Hyskell was born on December 04, 1772 in Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland.

He was Christened on 10 January 1773 in Hagerstown.

He died on 27 September 1857 in Warrior's Mark, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. He is buried in Burket Cemetery, Warrior's Mark.

Ira David Hyskell born Nov. 25, 1879 in Smicksburg, and died in 1958. He is buried in Smicksburg Cemetery . Ira married Amee Lister Hyskell (01 Jul 1889 - Nov 1983) on 28 August 1914 in Minnesota. He is the author of Early Heiskells and Hyskells : with a genealogical table of the first seven generations in America. Ira went to school at the Indiana Normal School (1896-97) in Indiana, Indiana County, PA. while living in Smicksburg. He received his B.A. (1905) at Allegheny College, PA, where he was later Acting Professor of Latin 12 .He went on to Harvard to study Classics, where he received his Master's degree in 1907. and wrote: Some rare meanings of excludo ; He received a doctorate at the University of Chicago in 1925. His Ph. D thesis was entitled: A Study of the Latinity of Solinus. The Alumni directory, the University of Chicago, 1919 describes him as a Banker, working at 28 Nassau St., New York, N.Y. 15 He was a teacher at Hedding College, Abingdon, Illinois (1910).14 Ira attended Graduate School at Yale University (1911-12) 16. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and instructor at Carleton College, Northfield, Minn. (1913-15). 13 In 1918, when he registered for the draft in World War I, Ira and his wife were living in Cambridge, Mass. He also registered for the draft in 1942.

17[Obituary from Indiana Tribune 29 Oct 2000] Allen L. Hyskell, 90, of Alverton RD3, passed away early Saturday morning,
Oct. 28, 2000, in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Al was born in Bullskin Township, Fayette County, May 8, 1910, a son of the late Bryson and Helen TEMPLETON Hyskell. Al was a retired steelworker with U.S. Steel's Edgar Thomson Works in Braddock, where he worked for over 30 years. Years ago he was employed by Beck's Trucking. Al was a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church in Scottdale and a member of the United Methodist Men. He was also a member of the United Steelworkers of America union and a graduate of East Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1931. Al is survived by his
loving family: a daughter, Susan Elaine BALKIN of Riverwoods, Ill.; his grandchildren, Craig and Zachary Balkin; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his wife, Martha M. JONES Hyskell, on Sept. 10, 1998; a daughter, Beverly Jean Hyskell; his sister, Mary MILLER; and his brother, David Hyskell. Family and friends will be received at the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, (724) 887-5300, e-mail: rferg<\at>a1usa.net, Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with his pastor, the Rev.
