Storey

Storey is an unincorporated locality situated about 2.7 miles north-east of the City of Madera in Madera County. It is also unofficially known as Madera Station, because the Amtrak Station is situated there on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway line.

Storey was named after William Benson Storey, fifteenth president of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. 1 May 1900 marked the opening of Santa Fe's new route through the San Joaquin Valley, an event welcomed by local farmers and merchants, who had been paying high transport costs to Southern Pacific Railroad.
