Light
on Madera County, circa 1902-05
Light on Madera County is a very rare booklet published
by W. O. Huse Farmlands Company, then a member of the California
State Realty Federation, whose headquarters were in Los Angeles,
but with an office located "on Little Green Lawn, Madera,
Cal." The booklet contains 32 pages, with illustrations and
a map. It was published between 1902 and 19051
to promote property sales and the development of Madera County.
William O. Huse Biographical Sketch
HUSE, Wm. O. Dealer in farm lands. Res. Tropico, Cal.; office
915 Story Bldg., Los Angeles, Cal. Born in Iowa Falls, la., Oct.
2nd, 1869; son of Joseph and Silie (Orcutt) Huse. Married to Rosabel
Jones in 1899; to Eleanor M. Russell in 1905. Edu- cated in public
schools of Hardin co., la., and by private tutors. Worked on a
farm until he was 21 years old; clerk in a mercantile house 1890-91;
traveling auditor for John Paul Lum- ing salesman in Cal., 1897-98;
moved to Waco, Texas, in 1898; to New Mexico, 1899; purchasing
agent in extensive land deals for an eastern syndicate, 1902;
moved to Los An- geles, 1893, and was special agent for Northwestern
Mutual Life Ins. Co., 1893-96; has been engaged in the real estate
business, handling farm lands, 1897 to date; has closed many big
land deals and acquired extensive realty interests in Madera Co.
and Southern California; now developing these properties; his
brothers, George E., N. D. and B. B. Huse are now associated with
him in the brokerage department of the land business under firm
name of W. O. Huse Co. Member K. of P.; Los Angeles Athletic Club;
Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce; Realty Board; Cal. State Realty
Federation; So. California Automobile Assn.; Madera Co. Club;
