Map of Central California 1864

The map below is from Colton's octavo atlas of the world *. It shows Central California before the City of Madera and Madera County were established.
There were no settlements of note in the area that was to become Madera County when this map was made in 1864.
Notice the Chowchilla River is referred to as the Chinchilla River.
