William Paxton Heiskell 1849-

The son of Otho William Heiskell and Matilda Paxton Heiskell, William P. Heiskell was born in Wheeling, Ohio County, W. Virginia on 27 March 1849.

William married Kate Burt. She was born in Virginia in 1848/49. The 1910 census records that they were living in Tridelphia, Ohio Co., W. Virginia ( a district of Wheeling).

Known children are:

Andrew Gano Burt Heiskell, who was born on 1 November 1877 and died in Los Angeles on 15 January 1911. Andrew G. B. Heiskell married Margaret Hamilton Stewart (1879-1972) in 1906. The Yearbook for 1902 of the Society of Sons of the Revolution in the State of West Virginia shows that Andrew Gano Burt Heiskell was admitted to the organization in 1899, being the great-great-great grandson of William Goforth. Andrew B. Heiskell is listed in the Catalogue of the officers and graduates of Yale University (1896-97).

Morgan Ott Heiskell

The Ott Heiskell Hardware Company 1 has been incorporated at Morgantown, W. Va., with a capital of $50,000, divided into shares of $100 each. $500 is paid in. Incorporators: Morgan L. Ott, William P. Heiskell, Dent A. Taylor, Harry B. Ott and Andrew B. Heiskell.

Samuel Ott was one of the pioneer merchants of Wheeling, W. Va., and formed a hardware company in 1837. He was also president of the Wheeling cotton mill, president of the Merchants' and Mechanics' Bank, and a director of the Wheeling Savings Institution. He died in 1868. Samuel was married to Sidney Isabella Heiskell the daughter of John Heiskell, and, therefore, the paternal aunt of William P. Heiskell.

His two sons Morgan L. Ott and Harry B. Ott, along with William P. Heiskell, formed a partnership to run the Ott-Heiskell Hardware Company.

On October 5, 1915 William P Heiskell applied for a United States passport in Ohio Co., W. Virginia. He claimed Capri, Italy as his permanent residency. The purpose of his visit was to "return to my family" , who were residing on the Italian island.

The Wheeling, West Virgina Directories 1888-93 shows that in 1888.89 Ott Bros. & Co. (Morgan L. Ott, Henry O. Ott, and W.P. Heiskell) were located at 1206 Main Street, Wheeling, W. Va.
